Earlier, upon releasing our book, Brotherhood
Societies, I received a number of encouraging notes, expressing
appreciation for our efforts. I had no thought of publishing these or any
other comments and therefore failed to saved them. Now that I am
encouraged to do so, that such a page is of great interest to many, I am
presenting some recently received.
These are comments are by readers, selected at the
discretion of the editor. Not all
comments received will be posted to this website. Those determined to be
sincere and polite, and which may be of interest to others, we are willing
to share, even if they are not complimentary. We will not offer a sounding
board for vicious, vulgar and rude attacks.

“I just wanted to let you know that I
received your booklet, ‘Brotherhood Societies.’ I looked through it
and found it of the quality I anticipated. I have a number of the
articles in my files; however, the booklet helps to organize the
material and make readily available.
“Again, I appreciate all the work you
have done through the years to teach and warn brethren. Your acumen
and writing skill is evident regardless of the treated topic!”

“I would like to order two copies of
your book Brotherhood Societies. … I look forward to reading
your articles. For some time now I have been studying Bible
authority, especially in the area of church benevolence. Your book
will be of great assistance in my studies.”

I commend your
attitude and resolve to understand. I would that it would
characterize all who open the pages of God’s word. For further
discussion in the area of applied authority, I call to your
attention the fact that years ago I wrote a book, Old Issues Do Not
Fade Away, in which the history and argumentation of
institutionalism is addressed. After being out of print for years,
we have now finally reprinted it, with some revision, in a new
format (larger, clearer type) with computer-generated charts. It can
be ordered from the author for $8.00 a copy (postpaid, $10.00).
“I received the book on Brotherhood
Societies. I am very pleased in agreement with you in your stand
for the truth. Find enclosed a check for … two more as I want to
give them to the elders of the congregation where I worship.”
— California, 6-1-05
“I have read your entire book on
‘Brotherhood Societies,’ and totally agree with your defense of
Scripture, and I am amazed at the lack of defense of those who favor
these ‘societies.’ May God bless your efforts.”

“Your article on ‘“Gospel Work,” the
Individual, Church, and Foundation’ in Gospel Truths was excellent.
I liked both your approach and tone—they were just right!”
— Arkansas, 6-20-05
“Thanks — I’m looking forward to reading
the material! Everything you have written is well thought out and
Scriptural. I appreciate men of your talent and character.”
— Colorado, 6-20-05
“Thank you for the book on ‘Brotherhood
Societies.’ I am about 2/3rds way through it. I doubt that Mike will
ever try to defend SCRIPTURALLY his practice on that. It will
probably get worse. It has in the last 25-30 years or so.”

I really
appreciate your new book "Brotherhood Societies". For it is
truly an encyclopedia of Bible facts, including often asked
questions with Bible answers, for those who would seriously
study the issue of unlawful human religious organizations which
individual Christians this time, not local churches of Christ as
in the past, have created, funded, etc.

"This is an excellent book
concerning institutionalism, and I consider it a valuable tool
for my own studies, as well as helping prepare me for the
defense of the gospel to others. I am saddened, however, at the
blatant attacks on you personally, as well as the obvious
disregard for the truth that those involved in GOT have shown. I
was baptized 9/26/02, and I have much to learn, but even as a
babe in Christ, I clearly see the meaning of Col.3:17, and the
absolute need for God's authority in everything we do. I hope
those involved in GOT will accept this truth and repent while
they have time. Thank you for your defense of the gospel, and
the knowledge you've shared with us all. I am happy to be able
to call you a brother in Christ."
